HOW TO STYLE: AN OFFICE LOOK

Let's talk about constructing a look that is perfect for daytime at work. If you want to look classy, refined, and polished, this is your look! This outfit is all about lessons in TEXTURE. The base of this outfit is a (synthetic) leather pleated skirt. When putting together a fall work look, leather is a great choice. A leather skirt is an investment piece that is truly timeless. If you are wanting the leather look but want a cheaper alternative, look for a PU version, which is synthetic leather, and will be a fraction of the price. This look shows an accordion pleated, fuller skirt, but the look would work equally well with a straight cut or a-line leather skirt with no pleats. The leather is giving us a nice sleek texture upon which to build the rest of our look. I chose a button down floral top with some rich fall colors to pair with the skirt. Let's add some MORE texture to the look with some cobalt blue velvet mod booties (see my post on mod booties here). I love how the blue in the booties contrasts with the color of the skirt and picks up some of the flowers in the shirt. I wanted to add a bit of whimsy to this otherwise tailored look, so I opted for pom earrings. The gold bar and post makes the pom earrings more refined and classy. To complete the look, I chose a prim houndstooth jacket for a topper. This print is neutral and classic and will work with tons of outfits. For the bag, I chose an elegant snakeskin satchel in blue. A bright red lip and maroon nails will complement this look. This look reminds me of my recent trip to London. I loved the bold colors and textures worn there! I can picture this look on a classy business woman walking to work! AHHHHH take me back!
