TREND TO WATCH: RAINBOW STRIPES

HELLO from my small corner of the world in Richmond, VA. It's been a while, but I'm back!

Today I want to talk about a trend that I am O-B-S-E-S-S-E-D with! This trend has been around a while, but it doesn't make it any less hot right now. I'm talking about rainbow stripes.This trend takes me back to my childhood, in all its 80's goodness! Visions of Jem and the Rockers (I had the doll!), Strawberry Shortcake, and Rainbow Brite are all coming to mind. Seen in both high and lower fashion, and iterations from completely over the top to more subtle and understated, this trend is still going strong. The 2000's version of trend mixes an air of sophistication with joyful nostalgia. More complex textures such as sequins, tulle, fringe, metallics take this trend into the current era. This rainbow sequined pajama top style shirt is just SOO GOOD! This piece packs a punch with not only the stripes, but the added sequins! Love how they paired it with some interesting but simple jeans.

Tips for How To Wear:

*When in doubt, start small. If you are not ready to take on the trend from head to toe, opt for an accessory such as a clutch or purse.

*Pare down. If wearing a statement piece with rainbow stripes, such as the top or skirts above, keep the rest of the look minimal. The stripes pair very well with a graphic tee, or a solid top or bottom. Keep any other patterns to a minimum. Rainbow pairs very well with denim- jackets, skirts, jeans.

*Be bold and be you! Rock the stripes with a childlike sense of joy and wonder!
