What a lovely fall weekend we just had. Here in Virginia, we have finally have been blessed with some cooler temperatures. Its so exciting to finally get to pull out my fall faves-boots, sweaters, and of course, blanket scarves! Yay! I want to share a fall weekend look styled around a blanket scarf. These continue to be SO popular and they are perfect for keeping warm, and adding a chic element of style. One of my favorite tricks for wearing a blanket scarf, is to cut it in half (see tutorial here). Doing this de-bulks the scarf yet still leaves you plenty of volume to work with. (Plus, you can give the other half to your bestie!) Score!

For this look, I started with this plaid blanket scarf I purchased last year from Forever 21 (super affordable). For the rest of the look, I opted for a lighter weight chambray tunic shirt (a staple wardrobe piece), paired with dark, distressed jeans. I added the beige duster, which has been such a useful piece in my collection. So versatile! Dusters are a great way to add some interest or should I say DRAMA to our outfit. This is a good example of playing with proportions. When opting for a duster, make sure to find the length that is right for your height and size. To long or too full could overwhelm a petite body. Dusters that come around the knee length would be a better option for petite frames. To finish the look, I added these Tom's red corduroy wedges purchased on Poshmark. I wanted to add a little height to offset the duster. Plus, red wedges are just FUN and I can get away with wearing the peep toe since it's still not too cold. I kept the accessories simple with a leather cuff and red faux-stone ring, and delicate gold necklace. Playing with pattern and texture is always a great way to give your outfit extra style and interest. For fall outfits, mix leathers, corduroys, suedes, plaids, and pretty deep tones such as reds, maroons, oranges, burnt oranges, olives, and browns. Ahhh, fall is just so lovely!

How do you like to style a blanket scarf? What's your weekend fall style go-to? Share with me!

Stay Stylish! Xo, Ryan
