Let's talk date night style. We all want a look that is EASY and has that COOL factor, and somewhat sexy! How to achieve that "I just threw this together" while making a statement look? What's the formula?
Top with interest (ie. cut or texture) + jeans + shoes with height + bold accessory.
TOP: Here, I opted for a striped off the shoulder top with sleeve ties. Off the shoulder has had a BIG moment, and it's safe to say its here to stay! This trend is unstoppable. This top was under $20 at Marshalls. Similar tops here: and here:
The off the shoulder top is perfect for date-night or nights out when you want a sexier vibe, without being too exposed. Many of these tops have elastic, so you can control the amount of shoulder you show. If you aren't comfortable with an off the shoulder top, opt for a loose and flowy top for some texture and romance! Chiffon works nicely. This and this top are great options.
BOTTOM: These hem-detailed distressed jeans from Kenzie (via TJ Maxx) around $20, have been on major repeat. I LOVE the hem detail which is so popular now. The distressed jeans add a nice juxtaposition to the top which is more tailored and refined. Similar jeans here.
SHOES: This style of shoes has been seen everywhere this season. I especially loved the Jeffrey Campbell version, but they were over my price range. So I was thrilled to see a similar style at Target via DV for Target line. The wedge gives your outfit a little extra "oomph" and allows you to still be comfortable (comfort is KING for me!) Shoe=best way to elevate your look and easily take your outfit from day to night. When putting together a date-night look, shoes with some kind of heel are KEY!
ACCESSORIES: I pulled out this vintage Stella and Dot necklace that I just haven't been able to part with. When I first found out about this line of jewelry, this necklace was part of the collection and it really WOW'ed me. I decided to add this statement necklace since this top is pretty simple. Some other options would be here and layered necklaces such as this one are also a great option. When pairing a statement necklace with a top, pay attention to necklines. Since this top is off the shoulder, a choker or longer necklace would be the best bet, as a regular length necklace would fall at the neckline and not stand out. For the bag, I wanted to give a pop of color as the rest of my look is quite monochromatic. I have been obsessed with this bag from Pixie Mood. Who doesn't love a HUGE tote that is also ombre! I love all the colors this bag comes in.
Now that you have the fashion formula for date night, let's see YOUR look! What does your date night look consist of?
Stay Stylish!
